Christmas shopping always seems to be a fairly intense pursuit for most people and often creates opportunities for photographers. Here, in contrast, are two perfectly relaxed women enjoying a day's shopping and each other's company.

The low sunlight provides almost horizontal side lighting, which adds some interest. I wanted them both to be carrying a big handbag in addition to their shopping, but perhaps next time.

The Bakers Hut

The Bakers Hut produced fresh, imaginative sandwiches, pies, and other lunchtime treats for many years. Here, in June 2011, an elderly couple peer through the windows, wondering about their lunchtime treat.

I like this because the Bakers Hut is long gone, as, in all likelihood, are the couple looking through the windows, but also because their interest in the window's contents is almost palpable. I hope they enjoyed their lunch.

Northern Folk Archive

One of the really very good things about Pagecord is Olly's continuing work on the product and how these changes allow users to improve their blogs.

My original intention was always to post contemporary photos and to complement them with selected photos from my archive. I started to do this with static pages, but they aren't quite capable of doing everything I wanted. Today, Olly announced the addition of a sub-blog, which I think will be a much better place to post selections from my archive, and I am going to start with it today - thank you, Olly.
